We're not happy about the "SAFE ACT"
as I'm sure you are not either!
Keep sending letters, emails and phone calls to your State Senators & Assemblymen in opposition!
Don't stop and don't give up!
March 10, 2015 - After spending the last three days researching and speaking to people with the correct knowledge and authority, I have found out what makes a modern sporting rifle acceptable under the Safe Act. and yes, the firearms we sell and have sold are acceptable.
Therefore we will once again be offering modern
sporting rifles for sale at Creekside Sports. In fact, we will be expanding on
the brands and types we will sell!
The safe Act website's "interactive tool" for determining what is, and is not considered an "assault weapon" is correct and very easy to use if you have any question about what is legal.
We offer Modern Sporting Rifles in the following
configurations to NYS residents:
1) "Featureless" semi-auto rifles. These have a receiver spur, that replaces the pistol grip, non-adjustable stock, bull barrel with no flash hider or compensator, and none of the other "evil features". They do have a 10 round removable magazine.
"The New York State SAFE Act states that a "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon" is one of the characteristics that defines a rifle as an assault weapon. If this is the sole characteristic that defines your AR-15 as an assault rifle, the AR-15 Receiver Spur remedies the issue."
These are S&W MP 15 Sporter Rifles in 5.56 caliber, and again, come with a 10 removable magazine.
2) Fixed magazine (10 rounds) semi-auto rifles.
These can be full featured rifles because the magazine is not removable due
to a magazine lock.
"Magazine Lock holds magazine in exactly the same way as your firearms original magazine catch, but makes it non removable. Once the firearm has a "fixed magazine" it is no longer classified as an assault weapon, no matter what features are on it."
Each rifle has an extended rear take down pin, and a fixed 10 round magazine. "This system has been approved by New York State. It is New York State legal because it has a fixed 10 round magazine and is a top loader. New York does not consider these rifles as an assault weapon."
We do these in almost any brand, .223, 5.56 of .308 calibers
3) Pump action rifles. These are Modern Sporting
rifles manufactured by Troy Firearms. Very cool! .223 caliber.
Being a pump action New York State does not consider these as an assault rifle.
4) The "ever ugly" Thorsden stock w/10 round mag and none of the "evil features"
